Women’s Lacrosse Falls by One to SUNY Canton

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse game lost a one-goal game at home on Saturday, falling to SUNY Canton 8-2 at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Keuka College (1-4, 0-0 Empire 8) was led by Julia Bauder led the Wolves with four goals. Sadie Bonetti added three goals and two assists for the Wolves.

SUNY Canton opened the game with three goals over the first eight minutes for the early lead. The Wolves got on the board with 6:26 left in the quarter as Sadie Bonetti set up Madeline Greene for the goal. The Wolves struck fast as they won the draw and Brooke Bonetti scored 23 seconds after Greene to make it 3-2. The Roos added a late goal and led 4-2 after one.

The visitors extended their lead to four with a pair of goals to start the second quarter. Sadie Bonetti got her first on a free position with 10 minutes remaining in the half. Bonetti got her second following a Roos goal. SUNY Canton scored with four seconds remaining to lead 8-4 at the half.

Keuka College had its best quarter in the third. Sadie Bonetti completed her hat trick 53 seconds into the frame. Julia Bauder then cut the margin to two with a tally minutes later. Following a Roos goal, Bauder scored again, this time from a free-position shot. Alyssa Chase made three saves in the third as the Wolves attempted to come back. Julia Bauder completed the hat trick in the third quarter alone with her third, but the Wolves trailed 9-8 going into the fourth quarter.

Quick strikes by SUNY Canton opened the fourth with the Roos scoring a pair in the first minute of play to regain a three-goal lead, 11-8. Madeline Greene scored her second 44 seconds later to draw the game back to two. Neither team would score for the next 10 minutes. Julia Bauder cut it to a one-goal game with 3:55 left in regulation. However, the ensuing draw would go to the Roos. Keuka got a save by Chase to gain possession but turned it back over. SUNY Canton was able to hold the ball to close out the game for an 11-10 victory.
