DAVENPORT, Fla.- The Keuka College Baseball team (2-4, 0-0 Empire 8) continued their week in Florida with a single-game win against SUNY Purchase on Tuesday afternoon by the score of 4-3.
RJ Murphy (Syracuse, N.Y. / West Genesee) carried his momentum on offense into today's game with a double and a triple.
Anthony Laurinitis (Philadelphia, PA / Father Judge) also set his new career high with three hits in 4 at-bats.
Kole Schmerder (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal) and
Derek Novicki (North Haven, CT / North Haven) also found success at the plate hitting triples of their own.
Jared Beckley (Windsor, N.Y. / Windsor) had a great showing on the mound throwing 8.2 innings and getting the win for the Wolves.

The Wolves hit their stride on offense early in the game as
RJ Murphy led off the second inning with a double to right field. With two outs, Laurinitis came up big with a single to center field and
Kole Schmerder followed right behind to knock Murphy in, scoring the first run of the game for the Wolves. The Panthers quickly regrouped and crossed one run across the plate in the bottom of the second to tie the game.

The Panthers took back control in the bottom of the third scoring one more run with a string of hits and aggressive baserunning. The Wolves got back into the game after Novicki nailed a leadoff triple and Laurinitis came up behind him with an RBI single.
Matt Vaccaro (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Fayettville-Manlius) used his speed and came up big with two outs in the fourth to keep the offense going with an infield hit.
Donald Nemeth (Guilderland, N.Y. / Guilderland) followed right behind to knock in Laurinitis and give the Wolves the 3-2 lead.
The Wolves final run of the game came in the sixth inning when
Kole Schmerder came up with a RBI triple of his own to knock Laurinitis in, putting the Wolves up 4-2.
Jared Beckley kept the Panthers at bay throwing 8.2 innings with only one earned run and three strikeouts. With two out in the bottom of the ninth, the Panthers managed to cross one more across the plate bringing the score within 1.
Ethan Tillotson (Pavilion, N.Y. / Pavilion) was brought in to take care of the final out of the game giving him his first career save and the Wolves the 4-3 win.

- Keuka College Baseball is 4-1 all-time against SUNY Purchase. The schools last played in 2007, splitting a doubleheader.
- With a sacrifice bunt in today's game, Shane Daley (Elma, N.Y. / Iroquois) is now tied for 6th for career sacrifice bunts with 11.
- Kole Schmerder, RJ Murphy, and Derek Novicki all recorded their first career triples in today's game. Novicki's triple also served as his first career hit.
- Jared Beckley set a new career high with 8.2 innings pitched in a game and Ethan Tillotson recorded his first career save.
