KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team shut out visiting Juniata College in the second half on the way to a 9-5 Wolves victory in a non-conference game at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Thursday.
Seven different Wolves combined for the nine goals by Keuka College (2-1, 0-0 Empire 8).
Devon Gerhardt led the way with two goals and four assists.
Nicholas Pipher also had two goals in the win.
Keuka College 9 vs. Juniata College 5
Juniata College did a good job dictating the pace in the first quarter. The Eagles slowed the game down and worked the shot clock. Both teams' defenses adapted to the pace and forced shot clock violations on each other. The Eagles took a 2-0 lead over the Wolves. Keuka got one back with three minutes left in the quarter. On the break,
Kyle Murphy found
Robert Hill for the goal to make it 2-1. Juniata answered with a pair to lead 4-1 after the first.
Keuka College settled into their offense in the second.
Devon Gerhardt opened the scoring in the frame for the Wolves and that was followed by a man-up tally by
Matt Jerman and a goal by
Kyle Murphy as the Wolves tied it up. Gerhardt assisted on both goals. Juniata regained the lead but the Wolves closed with goals by
Dylan DeLucia and
Nicholas Pipher for a 6-5 Keuka College lead at the half.
The second half belonged to
Dylan Hoad in goal and the Keuka College defense. Hoad made three saves in the third quarter and the Keuka College defense forced 10 Eagles turnovers. The game went 15 minutes without a goal until Pipher netted his second. Then with just nine seconds left,
Toby Tummino scored his first collegiate goal as the Wolves carried an 8-5 lead into the final quarter.
The Wolves' defense continued to play well forcing nine more Eagle errors. Hoad turned away four shots and
Devon Gerhardt added an insurance goal as the Wolves continued onto the 9-5 victory.

- Keuka College is now 4-1 all-time against the Landmark Conference
- Dylan Hoad tied his season-high with 14 saves in the win. He held the Eagles without a goal for the final 37:11 of the game
- The Wolves caused 25 turnovers against Juniata, tying for the fifth-most in a game in program history
- Despite not scoring a goal, senior Brandon MacDonell made a big impact on the game with his short-stick defending. MacDonell caused a career-high five turnovers and collected four ground balls
- Veteran leadership on defense also came from graduate student Zach Moyer. Moyer set a career-high with five caused turnovers and led the Wolves with six ground balls
- Logan McMurtry also had a career-high four caused turnovers on defense for Keuka
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves have a quick turnaround before their next game. The Green and Gold take to the road on Saturday to face Hilbert College. It will be the 13th all-time meeting between the Hawks and the Wolves. Faceoff from St. Francis High School in Hamburg is set for 3 p.m.
