Keuka College Downed at Buffalo State 18-7

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team lost on the road at Buffalo State 18-7 in a non-conference game on Wednesday.

Keuka College (0-3, 0-0 Empire 8) was led by Tori Nelson and Julia Bauder with two goals each.

Each team held possession early and it would be the Wolves getting the first shot of the game. It was saved and the Bengals converted in transition for the first goal of the game. They then doubled their lead 22 seconds later, winning the draw and scoring. The hosts pushed their lead to 5-0, but Keuka closed the first quarter strongly. The Wolves got goals from Tori Nelson, Julia Bauder, and Madeline Greene to tighten the game going into the second.

Buffalo State took control of the game in the second quarter. They scored six unanswered to build an 11-3 lead. Sadie Bonetti closed the half with a goal but the Wolves trailed 11-4 at the break.

Defense held for both teams early in the third quarter. Buffalo State scored the first goal with 5:37 left in the frame. The Wolves quickly answered on the man-up as Julia Bauder found a cutting Maddie Fassinger for the goal. The Bengals added two more goals in the third and Bauder scored her second for the Wolves. Buffalo State carried a 14-6 lead into the final quarter.

The hosts outscored the Wolves 4-1 in the fourth quarter. Tori Nelson scored her second of the game for the Wolves with Annaliese Black getting her first career assist. It would not be enough as Keuka College fell to Buffalo State 18-7 on Wednesday.

  • Wednesday was the first-ever meeting in women's lacrosse between Keuka College and Buffalo State. They are the 45th different opponent the Wolves have faced in their 18 seasons
  • Keuka College falls to 0-7 all-time against teams from the SUNYAC
  • Alyssa Chase made 12 saves in goal. The first-year keeper has already entered the top ten for saves in a career
  • The goals by Tori Nelson were the first of her career
  • Madeline Greene led the Wolves with six draw controls
  • Freshman Emily Parkhurst made her first appearance in goal for the Wolves but did not face a shot
Up Next for Keuka College: Keuka College will return home for their next two games. The Wolves will host SUNY Poly at 5 p.m. at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex next Thursday. Keuka will then host SUNY Canton two days later on Saturday, March 25.
