Wolves Score Two but Fall at St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Soccer team dropped an Empire 8 game 5-2 at St. John Fisher University on Wednesday.

Shayla Vetter and Lindsey Garbacz each scored but it was not enough for Keuka College (1-8-1, 1-3 Empire 8).

The Cardinals controlled the play from the opening kickoff, outshooting Keuka College 20-1 in the first half. They scored in the seventh and 13th minutes to stake the early advantage. Damage could have been worse because sandwiched between those two goals was a penalty kick, but Sam Pelcher made the stop in goal for the Wolves. Fisher added one more to lead 3-0 at the break.

The Cardinals added to their lead with two more goals. Keuka College got on the board in the 85th minute as Shayla Vetter netted her first of the year. Garbacz capped the scoring with a goal in the final minute.

KC Notes:
  • Despite having dropped the last four meetings with the Cardinals, Keuka College remains ahead in the all-time series 8-6-1.
  • Sam Pelcher played 75 minutes on Wednesday and made 12 saves. Elianna Wilder was clean in goal, turning away both shots she saw in the final 15 minutes
  • With her 12 saves, Pelcher now has 222 in her career. The senior moves to seventh on the career saves list at Keuka College
  • Shots were 30-4 in favor of the Cardinals. Fisher also had the advantage in corners 15-1
