KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team moved to 8-0 on their home floor on Wednesday night, defeating Utica University in straight sets in an Empire 8 match at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Dayna Edholm had a big night for Keuka College (13-4, 3-1 Empire 8). The senior posted 16 kills, 11 digs, and five aces. The offense again rolled through
Casey Hunziker who assisted on 29 of Keuka's 33 digs.
Emma Sipos led the defensive efforts with 18 digs.
Keuka College 3 vs. Utica University 0 – 25-13, 25-21, 25-14
Keuka College got out to a fast start on Wednesday, taking an 8-2 lead over the Pioneers and forcing Utica into an early timeout. The break was useful for the visitors as they scored five straight to draw the set back to one at 8-7. A kill by
Nina Scott ended the run. The Wolves regained control of the first following a pair of aces by
Jessica Throop. Keuka College pushed their lead out to 10 at 21-11. A pair of aces by
Dayna Edholm set up set point and a kill by
Nina Scott ended the first 25-13 in favor of the Wolves.
Utica took the early lead in the second set, scoring the first four points before an Edholm kill got Keuka College on the board. Edholm would later tie the set at 8-8 with an ace and a second ace gave the Wolves the lead. The run was pushed to 11-8, forcing Utica into a timeout. Utica would later push back into the set, tying it at 21-21. However, Keuka College converted the last four points, again ended with an Edholm kill to win the second 25-21 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
After an ace to start the third for Utica, Keuka scored the next four to take the lead. The Green and Gold pushed their lead to 15-8, causing a Utica timeout, but that did not stop the Wolves. Keuka kept rolling with four more points to extend their lead to 19-8.
Dayna Edholm capped off the night for the Wolves with a kill to win the third set 25-14 and sweep the match.

- Keuka College improves to 19-6 all-time against Utica University
- The Wolves controlled the match from the start. The sets would only be tied three times all night and once Keuka College took the lead in each set, they did not give it up
- As a team, the Wolves had 11 aces against just four service errors. Edholm led the way with five and Jessica Throop was right behind her with four. Casey Hunziker rounded out the total with a pair of aces
- The four aces for Throop set a new personal best for the sophomore
- Edholm's 16 kills tied for the eighth-most in a three-set match in program history
- The eight home wins for Keuka College ties for the second-most in program history
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves take a break from Empire 8 play this weekend as they play in a tri-match at Lycoming College. The Green and Gold will open against Delaware Valley College before facing the host Warriors.
