KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team was swept at home on Wednesday against St. John Fisher University in an Empire 8 match.
Keuka College (2-10, 0-2 Empire 8) was led by
Dayna Edholm with eight kills and
Ava Hubbard with seven.
Casey Hunziker had 20 assists and a pair of aces while
Emma Sipos finished with eight digs.
St. John Fisher University 3 at Keuka College 0 – 25-19, 25-8, 25-16
The Wolves jumped out to an early lead against the Cardinals, but the visitors would draw the set back to level at 7-7. An ace by
Ava Hubbard push the Keuka lead back out to three at 12-9 and later, a kill by
Dayna Edholm forced St. John Fisher into a timeout with the Wolves leading 15-11. Out of the break, the teams traded points, but then St. John Fisher would score seven straight to take a 20-17 lead in the set. In total, the Cardinals would score 12 of the final 14 points to win the set 25-19.
The momentum carried for St. John Fisher into the second set as the Cardinals jumped out to a 9-2 lead over Keuka and continued onto a 25-8 victory, taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set had the same start with St. John Fisher taking a 9-2 lead, but the Wolves continued to fight. The Cardinals led throughout, but Keuka battled to the end, posting a stretch of seven of eight points to cut it to 23-16, but St. John Fisher converted the final two points to sweep the match.

- Keuka College is 1-18 all-time against St. John Fisher in volleyball and is 0-8 against the Cardinals on Keuka's home court
- The Wolves had their best offensive set in the third with 10 kills against just four errors
- Keuka College had a better serve percentage than St. John Fisher as the Wolves only committed four serving errors, but the Cardinals had the edge in aces 13-4
Up Next for Keuka College: Keuka College will host a tri-match this weekend at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center. The Wolves will welcome Hilbert College and SUNY Poly to campus. Keuka will open against Hilbert College at 11 a.m. The Wolves will then face SUNY Poly at 3 p.m. after the Hawks and Wildcats square off at 1 p.m.
