KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Soccer team lost their season opener to Hobart College 3-0 at home at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Thursday night.

The Statesmen scored a pair of goals in the first half and added on in the final seconds for the win. Freshman Carson Smith made a pair of saves in goal for Keuka College (0-1) in his first collegiate game.

The Statesmen took the lead early in the first half. In the sixth minute, a corner kick was sent into the box and headed towards goal. Play continued in the other direction momentarily until the referee     blew his whistle determining that the ball did make it over the line. The Wolves had a strong chance in the 14th minute. Thomas Callery sent a long free kick onto goal. The shot     from distance looked bound for the upper corner, but the Hobart keeper jumped to tip it over the crossbar. On the ensuing corner, Brenden Moquin got a header     towards frame that beat the keeper but slid just wide. Hobart would add to their lead in the 36th as they found an open space in the box and picked a corner. The lead nearly got pushed to three in the     final minute, but Carson Smith made a diving save to keep the Statesmen's advantage to 2-0 at the half.

The Green and Gold played with more possession in the second half but were unable to break through the Hobart defense. In total, Keuka had two of their five shots in the second half but was unable     to put any on goal. Hobart added a goal in the final seconds of the game to finish it with a 3-0 victory.

KC Notes:
  • Keuka College falls to 0-6-1 all-time against Hobart
  • The Wolves have lost their last five season openers, but remain 6-5-1 in their debut game since 2010
  • Thomas Callery led Keuka with a pair of shots, both coming on free kicks
  • Cole Santiago had a quality chance for the Wolves midway through the second, but his effort went just over the crossbar
