ELMIRA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Soccer team lost on the road 1-0 at Elmira College in an Empire 8 game on Saturday afternoon.

Sam Pelcher.

Elmira College got out to an early start, but then the Wolves settled into the game. Keuka College outshot Elmira 8-6 in the first half. Both goalies were up for the tasks as Pelcher made four saves in the frame and the Elmira keeper made five. The game would remain scoreless at the half.
The Wolves attacked quickly in the second half, but all their attempts were saved. The Elmira keeper made six saves in the opening ten minutes of the second half. One of the best chances for the Wolves came in the 57th minute. A ball split the Soaring Eagles defender and found
Ciarra Rudnick on the break. The keeper for Elmira charged and made a save at the edge of the box, but it was determined to be a handball by the goalie outside of the box. She was assessed a yellow card and Keuka College got a free kick from the edge of the box. Rudnick took the free kick but her effort was high. Elmira would start to get some chances. In the 79th minute, Elmira took a free kick from distance. It was played low to the top of the box and deflected off an Elmira player directly to an attacker to the right. She converted on the near post for the 1-0 Soaring Eagle lead. The Wolves had one late attempt as Rudnick let a shot go that was tipped by the goalie and then off the crossbar.
Renee Vito tried an off-balanced volley but that was saved. Elmira would play out the game to secure the 1-0 victory over the Wolves.

- Keuka College is now 13-10-1 all-time against Elmira College, but the Wolves have not won at Elmira in 15 years
- The Wolves held a 21-12 advantage in shots, 14-7 in shots on goal
- Ciarra Rudnick led the attack with seven total shots, four on goal. Parker Lahey also had four shots on goal on five total attempts
- It was the second-most shots in a game this season for the Wolves
Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will close the 2022 season with a pair of home games this week. Keuka College will host St. John Fisher University at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The year will then come to an end the year on Saturday, Oct. 29 as Keuka College hosts Medaille University at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex at 1 p.m.
