Box Score 2 KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Volleyball team opened up Friday night as the Wolves hosted the Keuka College Invitational.
Keuka College (1-2) won the opening matching sweeping Hilbert College 3-0, but lost in 5 sets to Kings College.
Keuka College 3 vs. Hilbert College 0 – 25-10, 25-5, 25-15
Keuka College would open the first set going up 20-5. Hilbert would add five more points to their score but the Wolves lead was already too far gone as they took the first set 25-10. The Wolves would have 15 kills in the set with only one error.
The Wolves then went out on a 17-point lead only allow Hilbert to have five points in the second set. Keuka would have nine kills and only one error in the set. The Wolves would take the second set 25-5.
The third set started out with a battle going back and forth. The Wolves would go up five points to be ahead 10-5. Hilbert would try to respond but the Wolves went on a five point run. Hilbert put pressure on the Wolves defense as they went on a five point run to shorten Keuka's lead 13-22. The Wolves would pull through and finish the match in three sets with a score of 25-15.
Lead Wolves: Cameron Knapp would have seven kills in the match with zero errors and one solo block. The seven kills for the sophomore is her career high. Senior Kelsie Allen would also have seven kills and one error.
Kings College 3 vs. Keuka College 2 – 25-19, 21-25, 25-16, 19-25, 13-15
The Wolves jumped out to an early start as they went up 3-10 in the opening match. It would be a back and fourth set but the Wolves took the first 25-19. The Wolves would have 16 kills and only two errors in the set.
Kings College would respond back in the second set with 11 kills to take the second set 25-21. The Wolves would take advantage in the third set with a lead 5-12. Kings would go on an eight point run but the Wolves would pull ahead to take the third set 25-16.
The fourth set was a back and forth match Kings would pull ahead by seven points the Wolves tried to come back as they went on a five point run but Kings would pull ahead to take the fourth set 25-19.
The fifth set would be a back and forth battle. The Wolves would go on a 4 point run to extend their lead 5-8. Kings responded back with five point run taking the lead 10-8. The Wolves would tie Kings 12-12. The last two points would go to Kings as they took the fifth set 15-13.
Lead wolf: Lillian Mueller would have 14 kills in the match with only four errors and eight digs for the Wolves.
Up next for the Wolves: The Wolves will conclude the Keuka College Invitational with a pair of matches on Saturday. Keuka College opens the day with Mt. St. Mary at 12pm. The Wolves will than close the invitational with a 2pm match against Wells College at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
