Box Score 2 COBLESKILL, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team played a pair of five-set matches on Saturday at a tri-match at SUNY Cobleskill.
Keuka College (3-7) rallied from two sets down to force five before falling to the host Fighting Tigers in the first match. The Green and Gold then closed the day with a five-set loss to Mitchell College.
SUNY Cobleskill 3 vs. Keuka College 2 – 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 16-25, 15-5
The Fighting Tigers led early in a close opening set. The first would be tied eight times and the leads changed hands four times. In the end, SUNY Cobleskill converted the final four points to take the first 25-20.
The hosts stayed ahead in the second. After a tight start, SUNY Cobleskill created separation in the middle of the set with eight straight points. The Wolves made a late run, but the Fighting Tigers ended the set 25-22 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Green and Gold rallied, building a 10-point lead in the set at 22-12. Lillian Mueller led the Wolves with four kills in the frame, but it was the service line where the Wolves did their damage. Keuka College had seven aces in the set and won the third 25-21.
The Wolves stayed in control in the fourth. Mueller again posted four kills in the frame for Keuka. Keuka College took the lead at 2-1 and never looked back. The Green and Gold took advantage of 12 Fighting Tiger errors in the set to win it 25-16 and force a fifth set.
The fifth was not friendly to the Wolves, however. SUNY Cobleskill jumped out to a 7-2 lead over Keuka. The Fighting Tigers only had four kills in the fifth, but Keuka College hit seven errors as SUNY Cobleskill won the fifth 15-5 to win the match.
Lead Wolf: Lillian Mueller led Keuka College with 12 kills in the match. She also added a team-high five aces and had 11 digs for the Green and Gold. It tied her career-high in aces and set a new high-water mark for the senior in digs.
Mitchell College 3 vs. Keuka College 2 – 25-19, 21-25, 25-18, 21-25, 15-10
Mitchell College came out with energy in the match, jumping out to an 8-1 lead over the Wolves. The Mariners would stay in control and take the first 25-19.
Roles would flip in the second as Keuka College took the early 7-2 lead. That would be theirs for the set. Lillian Mueller had five kills and Tionna Moss added four in the frame as the Wolves took the second 25-21.
Set three followed the same script and the advantage bounced back to Mitchell. They opened the set with a 7-1 lead and did not give it up throughout the set. The Wolves pulled it back even at 12-12 with a Dayna Edholm ace, but Mitchell answered right back to regain the lead and continued onto the 25-18 victory.
After Mitchell scored the first two points of the fourth, Keuka responded with four straight to take the lead. It was the first lead change of the match. The Green and Gold used a six-point run in the middle of the set to build an advantage. Mitchell fought back in the set, but a kill by Tionna Moss ended it 25-21 in favor of the Wolves to force Keuka's second fifth set of the day.
The Mariners took the early 4-0 lead in the final set, but the Wolves battled back to tie it at 9-9. In the end, however, Keuka could not escape the mistakes as a pair of errors on the Wolves ended the match as Mitchell won the fifth 15-10 to win the match.

- Saturday was the first loss for Keuka College against SUNY Cobleskill in 20 matches. Despite being the 20th meeting, it was only the third time playing at SUNY Cobleskill
- It was the first time that Keuka College has faced Mitchell College in women's volleyball. It was the 136th different opponent for the Green and Gold over their 46 seasons
- Ericka Carlson totaled 32 digs on the afternoon, surpassing 400 for her career.
