Medaille College 96 vs. Keuka College 94

The Wolves took the early lead against the host Mavericks on Tuesday. DJ Billings knocked down a three to make it 15-11. The four-point lead, however, would be the largest of the half for the Wolves. In total, there were seven lead changes in the half. Medaille would take advantage of the final lead change as the Mavericks took control and led by as many as ten points in the first. Keuka cut into the lead in the final minutes. A three by Jahmr Jordan with 26 seconds left to cut the margin to one as the Mavericks led the Wolves 50-49 at the half.

Keuka College came out firing in the second half. The Wolves pulled ahead early in the second half. The Green and Gold went on a 9-0 run to take a 73-58 lead, their largest of the game. An 11-2 stretch by Medaille answered the Keuka run as the Mavericks fought to stay in the game. Medaille would retake the lead with 7:15 left on a three-point play. The Mavericks led by four with two minutes left to play. Nana Oteng laid the ball in for the Wolves with 1:03 left to play. Medaille was fouled but missed both free throws, giving the Wolves the ball. However, Keuka, who had only seven turnovers to this point in the game, would turn it over with 31 seconds left to give Medaille the ball back. The Mavericks went 1-2 from the line as the game remained one possession. But the Wolves would turn in over again leading to a Medaille layup. Keuka made a three at the buzzer but it was not enough as the Wolves lost to Medaille College on Tuesday 96-94.

KC Notes:

  • The Wolves are now 11-9 all-time against the Mavericks, but 5-5 when playing at Medaille College
  • Tuesday was the first time the two teams faced each other since the 2008-09 season
  • It was the second-straight one-possession game for Keuka College. The two-point game today follows a one-point game on Saturday
  • The Wolves shot a season-best 85.7% from the free-throw line

Up Next for Keuka College: Keuka College will take a step up in competition as they close the fall semester on Sunday. The Wolves will face Division I Cornell University in Ithaca on Sunday at 1pm. It will be the second time Keuka has faced the Big Red, previously meeting in the 2005-06 season.
