Wolves Fall to Elmira College in Four

ELMIRA, N.Y. –Keuka College Women's Volleyball team lost at Elmira College in an Empire 8 Conference match on Wednesday night.

Keuka College (5-11, 1-3 E8) was led by Tionna Moss 12 kills. Lauren Kuipers led the defense with 24 digs.

Elmira College 3 vs. Keuka College 1 – 23-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-20

The Keuka College Volleyball team went back and forth with Elmira until the Soaring Eagles broke open the game going ahead 11-7. The Wolves would get the ball back and tie the game at 11. The Soaring Eagles would jump ahead to 16. The Wolves battled back and went ahead to 18. The game would be tied at 18 and the Green and Gold took control and went up 23-18. Elmira College would make the Wolves fight as they tried to come back but the Wolves took the first set 25-23.

The second period would be back and forth until Elmira went on a four point run to go up 10-6. The Wolves would start to chip away at the lead and tie it at 11. It would then be a back and forth battle again until the Soaring Eagles went on another four point run to make the score 18-14. Elmira would only allow Keuka to score two more points as they took the second set 25-16.

The lead was back and forth for both teams until Elmira cracked the game open going on a four point run making the score 15-12. The Wolves battled back to tie it at 19. Elmira would take back control of the game and take the third set 25-19.

Elmira broke out the fourth set going ahead by seven points to extend the lead 10-3. The Wolves would start to chip away at the lead but the Soaring Eagles would keep extending their lead to 15-10. The Wolves weren't done yet as they kept chipping away at the lead to be trailing by two 17-15. Elmira would get to 24 but the Wolves battled as they would go on a two point run to shorten the lead by four but Elmira would take the fourth set 25-20.

KC Notes:

  • Keuka is now 5-30 all-time with Elmira College. Elmira has won 22 straight games.
  • Erika Carlson exceeded 500 career digs today as she had 8 in today's loss to now have 507 digs in her career.
  • Lauren Kuipers tied her career-high with 24 digs.
