Wolves Aces Over Wells

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team hit 13 aces as the Wolves defeated Wells College in straight sets at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center on Wednesday night.

Senior Kelsie Allen led Keuka College (9-14, 3-5 Empire 8) a match-high 10 kills on senior night. Tionna Moss added seven kills and Lauren Kuipers anchored the defense with 18 digs.

Keuka College 3 vs. Wells College 0 – 25-14, 25-21, 25-12

The Wolves jumped out to a fast 7-2 lead over Wells thanks to the service line. Ericka Carlson and Casey Hunziker each had a pair of aces during the opening spell. The Wolves played with the lead for the entirety of the set. Keuka closed it out with a Moss kill to win the first 25-14.

Wells College took a 7-2 lead of their own to start the second set. The Express led by as many as eight points, 18-10, but the Wolves answered back. Keuka rallied to cut the margin to four at 18-14. After a pair of Wells points, the Wolves went on their final run. Keuka College took nine straight points from the Express to take the lead in the set. Wells snapped the run at 23-21, but Keuka answered with a kill and a Delaney Yorks ace to win the second 25-21 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Keuka College controlled the third, holding a double-digit lead for a majority of the set. The Wolves led by as many as 14 in the set. Fittingly for Keuka, senior Ericka Carlson hit her fifth ace of the night on senior night to give the Wolves the 25-12 third set victory to sweep the match.

  • Senior Kelsie Allen posted a .643 hitting percentage with 10 dills and just one error on 14 attacks. It ranked as the seventh-best hitting percentage in a three-set match in program history

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will close the regular season this weekend with three games in the North Country. Keuka College will play at St. Lawrence University on Friday night. The Wolves will then face SUNY Cortland and Clarkson University in a pair of matches from Clarkson on Saturday.
