Wolves Net Five in Second Half to Defeated Wildcats

MARCY, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Soccer team scored five goals in the second half to defeat hosts SUNY Poly in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game on Saturday.

Five different players scored for Keuka College (2-3, 2-0 NEAC) against the Wildcats. Freshman Lydia Hall and senior Emily McGuigan led the way, each with a three-point game, scoring a goal and adding an assist.

Keuka College and SUNY Poly played a back-and-forth first half. The Wolves had the advantage in shots 11-6, but the Wildcats led in shots on goal 4-2. The goalies on both sides did their job with Jessica Pegg recording four saves in the half as the game was scoreless at the break.

The Green and Gold continued to press in the second half. The Wolves totaled 18 shots in the frame and held the Wildcats to just two. Keuka took the lead in the 76th minute as Emily McGuigan set up Lydia Hall for the goal. Just 32 seconds later, a long ball by Jessica Pegg found Fallon Morris on the break. Morris beat the keeper to double Keuka's lead. In the 81st minute, Lydia Hall returned the favor to McGuigan as the freshman assisted on the goal by the senior to make it 3-0. Keuka College added goals by Skylar Sanborn and Emily Cook as the Wolves defeated the Wildcats 5-0 on Saturday.

  • The Wolves pushed their unbeaten streak to three games against SUNY Poly as Keuka improves to 11-4-2 all-time against the Wildcats
  • Keuka outshot the Wildcats 29-8
  • The goal by McGuigan was the 54th goal of her career. The senior sits just two behind Nicole Sharick for the most in program history
  • McGuigan also broke a tie for seventh and moved to a tie for sixth in career assists. The senior has 20 in her career
  • Jessica Pegg finished with five saves to earn the shutout
  • Saturday was the 50th career game for senior Vera Freda

Up Next for Keuka College: The Women's Soccer team returns home on Wednesday to play their first home game of the season. Keuka College will host Wells College at 6pm on Wednesday. The Wolves are undefeated in 21 games against the Express, including a 6-0 victory last year.
