Box Score 2 KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball totaled 26 aces in a pair of straight set victories on Saturday at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Keuka College (7-11, 3-1 NEAC) won the opening match against the College of St. Elizabeth in straight sets. The Wolves then swept Penn St.-Abington in the second match of the day.
Keuka College 3 vs. College of St. Elizabeth 0 – 25-12, 25-14, 25-16
After a slow start between the Wolves and the Eagles, Keuka College created separation with numerous small runs against St. Elizabeth. The Wolves pushed their lead to double-digits and closed out the first set 25-12.
The Green and Gold took the first four points of the second set and later pushed their lead to 13-4. A kill by Lauren Moelbert ended the set with the Wolves winning it 25-14, taking a 2-0 lead.
Keuka College closed it out in the third set. The Wolves built a 14-6 lead over the Eagles. The Wolves served out the match with an ace from Alyssa Rex and that was followed by another Moelbert kill to end the set 25-16 as Keuka swept the match.
Lead Wolves: Lauren Moelbert finished with a match-high nine kills for the Wolves. Freshman Lauren Kuipers led the service attack with four aces as the Wolves finished with 15 in the win.
Keuka College 3 vs. Penn St.-Abington 0 – 25-23, 25-22, 25-13
Penn St.-Abington jumped out to an early lead, holding a 6-2 advantage over the Wolves. Three straight kills by Grace Allen followed by a Kelsie Allen kill leveled the set at 9-9. The Nittany Lions took the lead again. With the set tied at 23-23, Abby Anderson had back-to-back kills to give the Wolves a 25-23 first set victory.
Just as in the first match, Keuka College took the opening four points of the second set. Penn St.-Abington trailed the entire way, but made it close at the end. Lauren Moelbert ended it for the Wolves at 25-22 with a kill as Keuka took a 2-0 lead in the match.
After trailing early in the third, Keuka College converted 15 of 17 straight points to take a 23-11 lead in the set. Abby Anderson ended it with a kill as the Wolves won the third set 25-13, winning the match 3-0.
Lead Wolves: Moelbert once again paced the offensive attack with 12 kills. Grace Allen added 10 kills in the win.
