Keuka College Falls in Overtime at Penn St.-Abington

ABINGTON, Pa. – After forcing overtime on a last-second jumper by Sam Brown, the Keuka College Men's Basketball team lost to hosts Penn St.-Abington on Sunday 95-85 in overtime.

The Wolves (1-13, 1-8 NEAC) return home next weekend for a pair of conference games. Keuka College hosts defending North Eastern Athletic Conference Champions Lancaster Bible College on Saturday and then face Penn St.-Berks on Sunday.

Freshman Cameron Winston tied his career-high set yesterday with 26 points against the Nittany Lions. He was one of five Wolves to score in double-figures. Jelani Fontanez netted 13 and Dylan Doupe added 12. Rounding out the double-digit scorers was Cliff Stevens and Trevor Powell, each with 11 points in the loss.

Both teams struggled to score early, but Keuka College found their groove to take a lead. The Wolves scored 11 unanswered points to build an 18-6 lead eight minutes into the game. Keuka College shot 60% in the half, going 18-30 from the floor. They held Penn St.-Abington to just nine field goals in the half, but the Nittany Lions did their damage from deep. Six of Abinton's nine field goals were three-pointers. Keuka College extended their lead and held a 14-point advantage, 43-29, at the halftime break.

Keuka extended their lead in the second half. At its peak, the Wolves led by 18 points, 49-33. Penn St.-Abington continued to attack with the long ball. They went on a quick 9-0 run on three three-pointers in 50 seconds, but Keuka responded. The Wolves had a 9-0 run of their own to reestablish a double-digit lead. The Nittany Lions would not go away and continued to shoot. Overall, they made nine threes in the second half to tie the game at 75-75 with less than two minutes to play. Abington would take a two point lead with nine seconds left. Dekhari Stewart found Sam Brown who hit a jumper with one second left to tie the game and force overtime.

Penn St.-Abington would put the game away in overtime. They scored 16 points and held the Wolves to just 1-7 shooting. The Nittany Lions outscored Keuka College 16-6 in overtime to defeat the Wolves 95-85 on Sunday.
