Box Score KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Basketball defeated Penn St.-Abington 73-63 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Keuka (5-7, 2-4 NEAC) will have a quick turnaround as they face Bryn Athyn on Sunday in Keuka Park.
Dylan Doupe finished with the first double-double of his career. The sophomore gave Keuka 10 points and 11 rebounds off of the bench. Senior Casey Williams led the team with 19 points in the win.
Keuka held one of the conference's best three point shooting teams, Penn St.-Abington (3-10, 3-3 NEAC) to just 13% (3-23) from deep.
The Nittany Lions got out to the early advantage against Keuka College. They would grow their lead to as many as seven points, 14-7, early on in the half. A three pointer by Cliff Stevens cut into the margin and started a run for Keuka. They would scored the next 10 points and take a 17-14 lead. Abington took the lead back and had a one point advantage halfway through the opening frame. With the game tied at 21-21, Keuka went on a 10-1 run to take control of the half. A three pointer by Sam Brown with 2:26 left in the half gave Keuka a 10 point lead, 37-27. The lead would grow to as many as 14 points, but the Nittany Lions scored the final five points of the first half. Keuka carried a 41-32 lead into the locker rooms.
The two teams traded baskets for the opening minutes of the second half. Keuka remained in control for that time. The Nittany Lions narrowed the margin to six midway through the second, but free throws by Casey Williams and Dylan Doupe pushed the margin back to 10 points. Penn St.-Abington used a 6-0 run over the next two minutes to cut back into the lead, but the Green and Gold had the answer once again. A layup by Doupe and jumper by James Outlaw pushed the lead back to eight points. Abington's last threat came with three minutes left. After a pair of Nittany Lion free throws, they quickly forced a steal and got a layup to make it a one-possession game, 64-61. Casey Williams responded with a jumper, which was quickly answered by a layup by Abington. However Williams would make another basket that started a 7-0 Keuka run to end the game and give them the 73-63 victory.
