Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Basketball team fell to Hamilton College 76-73 in the first round of the Harold J. Brodie Tournament at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Keuka (0-2) will face the loser of RIT and D'Youville on Saturday at 1pm.
Josh Wahnon led Keuka with a career-high 17 points. Senior Casey Williams added 16 points and seven rebounds Also with a team-best seven rebounds was Devin Cooper and Dylan Doupe. Cooper scored 11 points in just his second game in a green and gold uniform. Cliff Stevens rounded out Keuka's double-digit scoring efforts with a career-high 10 points.
Keuka College came out fast against Hamilton College. Josh Wahnon made a three just over thirty seconds into the game to give Keuka an early lead. Hamilton would tie it at 3-3, but the Green and Gold would take control for the rest of the half. They would slowly start to grow their lead out. Casey Williams hit a three with eight minutes left in the half to give Keuka its first double-digit lead of the game at 27-17. The Green and Gold made five of their first six shots from beyond the arch. Hamilton would use a late run to get back in the game, but a Miles Boyer jumper as time expired sent Keuka into the halftime break with a 41-38 lead.
As a team, Keuka shot 47% from the floor and 62.5% from three point territory. Josh Wahnon led the way with 10 points in the half. Freshman Devin Cooper had a game-leading six rebounds in the opening frame. As a team, Keuka held a 22-15 rebounding edge over the Continentals.
Cliff Stevens drilled a three in Keuka's first possession of the second half, but Hamilton would run off six straight points to tie the game at 44-44. Keuka would regain and stretch the lead to as many as five points following a layup by Devin Cooper. The Continentals would answer with an 11-1 run that put them ahead 58-53 halfway through the second half. Keuka would battle back. Josh Wahnon made his third three pointer of the game to give Keuka a 64-63 lead with five minutes left to play.
The game came down to the final seconds. Trailing by one with 24 seconds left to play, Keuka fouled Hamilton. After a pair of free throws, Greg Tyler made a layup with 11 seconds remaining. Keuka was once again forced to foul and the Continentals made both shots from the line. Keuka's last second three point attempt missed and they fell to Hamilton College 76-73.
