Box Score Four student-athletes scored in double figures as the Keuka College men's basketball team used a 12-2 second-half run to knock off Penn State-Berks 79-63 Saturday afternoon inside the Weed Physical Arts Center.
Senior Trevor Healey (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) scored 27 points with 10 rebounds, including five offensive rebounds, for his fifth double-double to power the Wolfpack (8-6, 5-3 NEAC).
Junior Casey Williams (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) added 15 points with four rebounds, senior Jared Wagner (Pittsford, N.Y./McQuaid) recorded 12 points with 8 rebounds and 3 steals, and senior Adam Starks (Wellsville, N.Y./Andover) added 11 points with five rebounds in the win.
Freshman Cliff Stevens (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) snared a career-high 10 rebounds with 5 points and 2 blocks in 26 minutes. Junior Vinney Zambito (Elba, N.Y./Batavia Notre Dame) handed out a career-high nine assists to go with 4 points and 2 steals for the Green and Gold.
Healey has scored in double-figures in 12 of 13 games, including four games with 20 or more points.
Keuka shot 42.6 percent from the floor (23 of 54), including 75.7 percent on free throws (season-best 28 makes on 37 attempts) while holding Berks (3-10, 3-4) to 31.9 percent shooting (22 of 69).
The Green and Gold trailed by as many as five points early on, but had its first lead when freshman Greg Tyler (Edgewater, Md./Southern) completed a three-point play for a 15-14 lead with 9:20 remaining in the opening half.
Healey also added a three-point play for an 18-16 lead, but Christian Burggraf (21 points) hit a '3' with 7:36 remaining for a 19-18 lead. It would be Berks' last lead of the contest.
Williams and Healey each made layups and Keuka led 23-22 with 3:43 remaining in the first before going on a 13-0 run.
Stevens hit a layup, Williams buried a triple, Healey made a pair of free throws, Williams converted a three-point play and Starks capped the run with a '3' for a 36-22 lead with 1:10 left in the first.
Leading 39-24 heading into the second, Berks hung around and went on a 22-9 run to trail only 48-46 on a three-point play by Burggraf eight minutes into the second.
The Wolfpack lead fluctuated between five and nine points, but Burggraf hit a '3' to slice the lead to 58-52 with 7:04 remaining.
That's when Healey went to work, scoring 10 of Keuka's next 12 points as the Wolfpack took a 70-54 lead on Healey's layup with 4:03 remaining.
Keuka led by at least 12 points the rest of the way in snapping a three-game losing streak.
The Wolfpack host NEAC rival Wells College at 8 p.m. Wednesday night.
