Women's Volleyball Loses to Oswego State

The Keuka College women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to Oswego State Tuesday night, falling by scores of 25-13, 26-24 and 25-13 in Oswego, N.Y.

Senior Devan Curtis (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente) recorded four kills with four digs, and sophomore Tally McDonald (Romulus, N.Y./Romulus) and freshman Katelyn Warren (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) each added four kills in the loss.

Senior Julia Coryell (Phelps, N.Y./Midlakes) recorded 5 assists with 4 aces and 4 digs, while senior Danielle Alred (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) and freshman Sam Thrasher (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) each added three kills for the Wolfpack (3-10).

Senior Rachel Parker (Chaumont, N.Y./Thousand Islands) handed out 11 assists while sophomore Kaitlin Burke (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning West) recorded eight digs for the Green and Gold.

The Wolfpack took an early 7-4 lead in the first set after getting two kills from Thrasher, a kill from Alred and an ace from Warren. But Oswego (11-10) used an 18-4 run to take a 22-11 lead en route to a set one win.

In the second set, the Green and Gold trailed 3-0 before going on a 6-0 run, sparked by kills from Warren, McDonald and Curtis.

Leading 8-6, Coryell went on a service run, winning seven straight points with four aces as the Wolfpack seized a 15-6 lead.

The Lakers and Wolfpack traded points, and Keuka College took a 19-9 lead on an ace from Burke, but the Lakers responded with a 13-4 run and led 23-22.

McDonald snapped the scoring run with a kill to pull the Wolfpack even at 23. Oswego took a 24-23 lead before Curtis hammered home a kill to knot the score.

But Oswego held on to win the set and completed the three-set sweep.

The Wolfpack travel to Cazenovia College Saturday and Sunday for the second of three North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) crossover competition.

Keuka College plays SUNYIT and Morrisville State Saturday afternoon, and Cazenovia and SUNY Cobleskill Sunday. The Wolfpack are a perfect 3-0 in conference play this year.
