Box Score 2 The Keuka College women's volleyball team dropped both matches at the annual North Eastern Athletic Conference/Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Challenge Saturday afternoon at D'Youville College in Buffalo, N.Y.
The Wolfpack (0-2) fell to Hilbert College in four sets before dropping a five-set decision to host D'Youville College.
Keuka College won the first set against Hilbert, 25-23, but dropped the next three by scores of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-23.
Against D'Youville, the Wolfpack lost the first set 25-22, but pulled even after prevailing 25-20. The Spartans won the third, 25-21, before the Wolfpack won the fourth, 25-19. But in the decisive fifth set, the Wolfpack fell 15-5.
Senior Devan Curtis (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente) posted a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs, and added 3 service aces in the season-opening loss to Hilbert.
Classmate Danielle Alred (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) added five kills with four blocks, sophomore Rachel Elliot (Dundas, Ont./Parkside) posted five kills and classmate Kaitlin Burke (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning West) added a career-high 17 digs with two aces in the loss.
Freshman Sam Thrasher (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) added seven digs while sophomore Tally McDonald (Romulus, N.Y./Romulus) had three blocks and two kills in the setback.
Taking on D'Youville, Curtis had 10 digs, 8 kills, 4 aces and 2 blocks, McDonald chipped in with eight kills and Alred added 3 kills, 3 aces and 2 blocks in the loss.
Freshman Meghan Calhoun (St. George, Ont./Paris District) added 11 digs with seven kills and senior Rachel Parker (Chaumont, N.Y./Thousand Islands) had 14 assists, 10 digs and 5 aces in the loss.
The Wolfpack return to action Saturday, hosting Alfred State at 11 a.m. and Utica College at 3 p.m. in a tri-match.
