Balanced Men's Hoops Beats SUNY ESF

Senior Trevor Healey (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) recorded his second double-double and three student-athletes scored in double-figures as the Keuka College men's basketball team knocked off SUNY ESF 77-57 Tuesday night inside the Weed Physical Arts Center.

Healey scored 12 points with 12 rebounds, and added three assists, while junior Casey Williams (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) had 19 points with seven rebounds to spark the Wolfpack (3-3).

Healey connected on all six of his shots from the floor, while Williams hit on 42.9 percent of his shots (6 of 14) as Keuka shot 50 percent from the floor (27 of 54).

Senior Jared Wagner (Pittsford, N.Y./McQuaid) added 12 points while connecting on 4 of 7 three-pointers, while freshman Cliff Stevens (Ballston, N.Y./Ballston Spa) recorded 7 rebounds, with 3 assists and 2 blocks in the win.

Junior Vinney Zambito (Elba, N.Y./Batavia Notre Dame) finished with eight points and three assists for Keuka, which limited the Mighty Oaks (1-8) to just 37.7 percent shooting (20 of 53).

Freshman Dylan Doupe (Phoenix, N.Y./John C. Birdlebough) recorded a career-high eight points with four rebounds for the Wolfpack, who enjoyed a 43-28 edge on the glass.

Leading 22-18 with 9:29 remaining in the opening half, the Wolfpack clamped down and held the Oaks without a basket for 7:05. Keuka went on a 15-0 run, as Williams scored nine points, and Zambito and Wagner each buried '3s' during that stretch to take a 37-18 lead.

Keuka went into halftime with a 41-26 lead. Leading 43-28, Healey sparked the Green and Gold on a 13-2 early in the second half. Healey made back-to-back layups, Zambito and Wagner each swished a '3', and Williams added three free throws during the run for the Wolfpack.

Keuka led by at least 16 points the rest of regulation to earn its first home win in two tries.

Keuka hosts a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponents this weekend. SUNY Cobleskill comes to campus for a 3 p.m. clash Saturday in the conference opener, then the Wolfpack welcome SUNY Polytechnic to campus at 3 p.m. Sunday in the last game of the fall semester.
