Volleyball Falls on the Road to Brockport

The Keuka College women's volleyball team closed out the regular season Friday night at the College at Brockport, and the Wolfpack fell in three sets.

Senior Devan Curtis (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente) compiled 10 digs with 6 kills and 3 service aces, and freshman Sam Thrasher (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) added five kills, but the Wolfpack fell by scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-14.

Sophomore Tally McDonald (Romulus, N.Y./Romulus) added four kills, classmate Kaitlin Burke (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning West) had 17 digs with two aces, and freshman Katelyn Warren (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) had four kills with three digs in the sweep.

Senior Rachel Parker (Chaumont, N.Y./Thousand Islands) added 15 assists with three digs for Keuka, which will be the No. 4 seed for the upcoming North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) tournament.

Gallaudet University (20-12, 11-1 NEAC) earned the regular-season championship and will host the six-team tournament, which starts with the quarterfinals Friday. The semifinals are Saturday, and the championship match is Sunday, Nov. 9.

Wells College (21-10, 10-2) will be the No. 2 seed, Penn State-Berks (18-9, 10-2) is the No. 3 seed, Keuka is the No. 4 seed, Lancaster Bible College (18-12, 9-3) is the No. 5 seed, and SUNY Polytechnic (16-17, 7-5) is the No. 6 seed.

Keuka will take on Lancaster Bible College at 7 p.m. Friday in one quarterfinal, with Berks taking on SUNY Polytechnic in the other quarterfinal.

The winner of Keuka/Lancaster Bible College will play Gallaudet at 12 p.m. Saturday in one semifinal, with Wells playing the Berks/SUNY Polytechnic winner in the other semifinal.

The NEAC championship match is at 1 p.m. Nov. 9, with the winner earning the NEAC's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III tournament.

Against the other NEAC-bound teams, Keuka posted a 3-2 record. The Wolfpack knocked off Lancaster Bible College in four sets Sept. 19, swept the four-time defending NEAC champions from Gallaudet Oct. 19, and handed SUNY Poly a four-set setback Oct. 4.
