Box Score Junior Tyler Hixson (Shortsville, NY/Red Jacket) scored 17 points with eight rebounds and sophomore Casey Williams (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) recorded his first double-double of the year, but the Keuka College men's basketball team fell at home to RIT 68-53 Wednesday night inside the Weed Physical Arts Center.
Williams tallied 10 points with 10 rebounds and junior Trevor Healey (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) added 14 points and four rebounds, but Keuka (5-4) suffered the loss despite forcing RIT (6-3) into 23 turnovers.
Junior Jared Wagner (Pittsford, NY/McQuaid) handed out six assists while classmate Adam Starks (Wellsville, NY/Andover) added six points in the loss.
In a slow-paced first half, Keuka fell behind 11-0 before Hixson hit a jumper and Healey knocked down a '3' to spark the Storm on a 7-4 run.
Healey made a free throw to pull the Green and Gold within 15-7 halfway through the opening half, but RIT maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the half and led 34-21 at the break.
Williams swished a pair of free throws to slice the deficit to 37-28 three minutes into the second half, but the Tigers answered with a 7-0 run and led by at least nine points the rest of the game.
J.P. Reagan recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds and Jameel Balenton added 17 points for RIT, which shot 45.5 percent (25 of 55) while holding Keuka to 34 percent shooting (18 of 53).
The Storm travel to Gallaudet (D.C.) University for a 1 p.m. North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) showdown Saturday afternoon before playing Penn State-Abington at noon on Sunday.
