Box Score The Keuka College men's basketball team placed four student-athletes in double-figures, had two players record double-doubles, enjoyed a huge edge in rebounding and shot 44 percent from the floor, but it wasn't enough as the Storm fell to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) rival Penn State-Berks 78-74 Friday night inside the Weed Physical Arts Center.
Junior Trevor Healey (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) scored 21 points with 12 rebounds and sophomore Casey Williams (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) added 13 points with 12 rebounds in the loss for the Storm (5-7, 3-4 NEAC).
It was the second double-double of the season for both Healey and Williams. Healey shot 57.1 percent (8 of 14) while Williams also handed out a team-most four assists for the Storm, who have lost four in a row.
Junior Jared Wagner (Pittsford, NY/McQuaid) added 12 points with 7 rebounds and classmate Adam Starks (Wellsville, NY/Andover) chipped in with 12 points for Keuka, which shot 44.1 percent (26 of 59) against the Nittany Lions (3-8, 3-2 NEAC).
Berks was led by Christian Burggraf (21 points), Darren Major (21 points) and Dameon Nixon (20 points).
The Storm outrebounded the Nittany Lions 42-29, including 18-8 on the offensive glass. Healey snared a season-high six offensive rebounds while Williams equaled his season-high with five offensive rebounds.
Berks led 70-64 before Wagner buried a '3' and hit a free throw, and Starks hit a layup to knot the score with 4:59 left.
Following a layup from Nixon, Healey snared an offensive rebound and converted the putback for the 11th tie of the game
Nixon and Burggraf each made layups to give Berks a 76-73 lead, but after Williams made one of two free throws, Keuka only trailed 76-74 with 1:13 remaining.
Berks missed a '3', but the Storm also missed from three-point range and Major hit a pair of free throws with one second remaining to seal the win.
The Nittany Lions led 23-11 halfway through the opening half before the Storm went on a 27-14 run. Healey hit a turn-around jumper with 16 seconds left in the half to give the Storm a 38-37 lead heading into halftime.
Healey scored 11 points and Williams added six points during the spurt for the Green and Gold.
The Storm return to action with a 1 p.m. NEAC home game against Lancaster Bible College Saturday afternoon.
