Women's Hoops Wins 6th Straight

Four student-athletes scored in double-figures as the Keuka College women's basketball team picked up its sixth straight win, 72-66 over Penn State-Berks Sunday afternoon.

Senior Mariah Mouzon (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) posted her second double-double this year with 17 points and 14 rebounds while junior Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney) added 20 points and five rebounds for Keuka (6-1, 3-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference).

Junior Jessica Bandrowski (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches) added 18 points, 4 assists and 2 steals while sophomore Brittany Hadley (Jasper, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg) added 10 points in the win.

Mouzon shot 7-for-12, Bandrowski was 6-for-11 and Gravel was 7-for-15 as the Green and Gold converted on 43.1 percent of their shots (25-for-58).

Keuka led 9-6 after Gravel made a '3' 5:28 into the contest, but Berks (3-7, 2-1) went on a 14-4 run to take a 20-13 lead. The Nittany Lions extended their lead to 35-24 before Gravel and Hadley each made layups and Hadley made a free throw as Keuka ended the half on a 5-0 run.

Trailing 35-29 starting the second, Bandrowski made three layups and Gravel added a basket as the Storm used an 8-1 run to take a 37-36 lead.

In a back-and-forth contest, neither team led by more than three until Bandrowski buried her only '3' of the game for a 55-51 lead with 6:02 remaining. That started Keuka on an 11-3 run, capped by a Mouzon layup for a 63-54 lead with 1:55 left.

Berks pulled within 68-64 before Gravel made a layup and Hadley and Mouzon each hit a free throw to seal the win. Keuka outrebounded Berks 40-32.

Kellie Wilson scored 20 points while Shanelle Koch added 17 points for Berks.

The Storm plays Lancaster Bible College at 4 p.m. Monday before hosting Gallaudet University at 1 p.m. on Jan. 12, the first of three straight home games.
