 Junior setter Jill Nolan (Johnson City, NY/Maine-Endwell) totaled 51 assists and 24 digs as Keuka College's women's volleyball swept matches with Penn State-Berks and the College of St. Elizabeth on Day 1 of the first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) crossover competition of 2012.
The Storm (9-3, 2-0 NEAC) defeated Berks by scores of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-14 in the day's first match, then handed St. Elizabeth a setback by scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-18.
Junior Paige Golden (Kent, NY/Albion) continued her great start to the 2012 season with two more double-doubles, giving her seven in 12 matches.
Golden combined for 31 digs and 25 kills on the day, posting 3.5 blocks, 14 digs and 14 kills with only three errors on 37 attempts for a .297 hitting percentage against Berks, and adding 17 digs and 11 kills against St. Elizabeth.
Junior Taylor Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder), the reigning NEAC Defensive Player of the Week, posted 13 digs in each of the wins while sophomore Devan Curtis (San Clemente, CA/San Clemente) combined for 16 digs and 12 kills in the two matches.
Against Berks (5-6, 2-1 NEAC), freshman Morgan Eberley (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) added eight kills and had a .174 hitting percentage, Nolan handed out 31 assists to go with 18 digs and junior Meg Houlihan (Elysian, MN/Minnesota State University) had five kills and no errors in 13 attempts for a team-leading .385 hitting percentage.
Facing St. Elizabeth, Curtis had nine digs and seven kills and junior Gina Ferruzza (Penfield, NY/Webster Schroeder) added four kills with no errors on seven attempts, good for a team-leading .571 hitting percentage.
Nolan added 20 assists and six digs while junior Rachel Parker (Chaumont, NY/Thousand Islands) had 12 assists and six digs for the Green and Gold, which picked up its fifth and sixth sweeps of the year vs. Berks and St. Elizabeth.
The first of three NEAC crossover competitions continues on Sunday, when Keuka takes on Lancaster Bible College at 10 a.m. Sunday at SUNY Cobleskill.
