Women's Soccer Can't Overcome Big First Half

Box Score

Juniors Jessica Bandrowski (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches) and Brooke Lovell (Arkport, NY/Arkport) scored goals 12 minutes apart in the second half, but Keuka College's women's soccer team lost at Medaille, 6-2 Sunday afternoon.

The Storm (0-2) fell behind 5-0 at halftime as Candis Kapuscinski scored three goals, including one just 50 seconds in, to lead the Mavericks (1-1).

Bandrowski scored the first goal of her Keuka career 1:03 into the second half, dribbling past five defenders before burying a shot to get the Storm on the scoreboard.

Lovell pulled the Green and Gold within 5-2 on a direct kick outside of the box, but Medaille tacked on a score in the 63rd minute to seal the win. Bandrowski also had a goal nullified due to an offsides call.

In her first start of her collegiate career, freshman Maggie Tower (Waterville, NY/Home Schooled) made eight saves for Keuka.

The Mavericks outshot Keuka 12-2 in the first half and 23-10 overall in picking up its first win of the year. Keuka returns home for its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) openers this weekend. The Storm will face Penn State-Abington at 1 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a 1 p.m. clash with Penn State-Berks on Sunday.
