Box Score Sophomore Trevor Healey (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) scored 14 points with four rebounds, but the Keuka College men's basketball team suffered a 61-50 loss to host RIT in the championship of the 28th annual Harold J. Brodie Tournament Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Adam Starks (Wellsville, NY/Andover) added nine points and four rebounds while senior Teddy Tuggles (Rochester, NY/Gates Chili) chipped in eight points and three rebounds, but Keuka's three-game win streak was snapped after RIT (4-4) forced the Green and Gold (3-6) into 17 turnovers.
Sophomore Jared Wagner (Pittsford, NY/McQuaid) knocked down a '3' to stake Keuka to an early 3-0 lead before the Tigers scored the next six points for a 6-3 lead. Wagner and Starks each made layups for a 7-6 Storm lead, but that was the last time Keuka would lead in the title game.
Tuggles buried a jumper to pull Keuka within 13-12, but RIT used a 16-7 spurt to pull away and took a 33-23 lead into halftime.
Tuggles and Starks each made '3s' and Starks added a jumper as Keuka opened the second half on an 8-2 run to claw within 35-31, but the Tigers went on a 15-4 run and led 50-35 after Ronnie Canestro made a layup with 10:24 remaining.
Healey scored six straight points and sophomore Joe Tortolon (Dundee, NY/Dundee) added five straight points later in the half, but it wasn't enough as Keuka suffered its second loss to RIT this season. The Green and Gold also lost to RIT, 71-57 on Nov. 20.
Eric Travis scored 12 points while Jameel Balenton added 10 points for RIT.
The Storm head into the holiday break winners of three of their last four games. Keuka returns to action with road contests against Penn State-Berks (Jan. 6), Lancaster Bible College (Jan. 7) and Houghton College (Jan. 9) before hosting Gallaudet University at 3 p.m. Jan. 12, 2013.
