Box Score 2 The Keuka College women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to 11 before suffering a four-set loss to SUNYIT on Day 2 of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) crossover competition, Sunday at Cazenovia College.
With the split, the Storm (16-4, 7-1 NEAC) concluded the second of the three NEAC crossover competitions with a 3-1 record. Keuka swept Cazenovia, 25-19, 25-16 and 25-12 for its 11th straight victory before falling to SUNYIT, 21-25, 17-25, 25-21 and 20-25.
Junior Paige Golden (Kent, NY/Albion) recorded 35 digs, 21 kills and 4 aces, freshman Morgan Eberley (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) added 18 kills and junior Deliane Lessard (Rochester, NY/Genesee Community College) chipped in 16 kills over Sunday's two matches.
Golden had 10 digs and nine kills, Lessard and Eberley each had seven kills and junior Taylor Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) finished with 14 digs as the Green and Gold swept Cazenovia, the 10th time during the winning streak Keuka swept an opponent.
In the day's second match, SUNYIT jumped out to a two-set lead before Keuka won the third set, 25-21. The Storm wasn't able to even the match and lost for the first time since a four-set setback to SUNY Fredonia during the Hilbert Invite Sept. 14.
Golden recorded her 12th double-double in 20 matches against the Wildcats, finishing with 25 digs and 12 kills. Eberley had 11 kills, 5 digs and 2 blocks, Lessard had nine kills and sophomore Devan Curtis (San Clemente, CA/San Clemente) totaled eight kills and 11 digs, but it wasn't enough to topple SUNYIT.
Junior Jill Nolan (Johnson City, NY/Maine-Endwell) added a season-high 40 assists to go with 13 digs and 3 aces, junior Meg Houlihan (Elysian, MN/Minnesota State) had eight kills and Smith recorded 30 digs in the loss.
Keuka is off until competing in the Hartwick Invitational, Friday and Saturday at Hartwick College. The Storm takes on SUNY Cobleskill and Utica College Friday night before facing Lebanon Valley and host Hartwick Saturday.
