Box Score 2 The Keuka College women's volleyball split its first two matches on the first day of the final North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) crossover competition Saturday at Penn State-Abington.
The Storm (20-7, 8-2 NEAC) fell to first-place Gallaudet (25-6, 10-0) in the first match, losing by scores of 25-20, 26-24 and 25-16.
In the second match, Keuka handed Penn State-Abington (16-9, 5-5) a five-set setback, winning by scores of 25-23, 18-25, 15-25, 25-14 and 15-10.
Junior Paige Golden (Kent, NY/Albion) recorded 19 digs with 11 kills and sophomore Devan Curtis (San Clemente, CA/San Clemente) added nine kills and nine digs while juniors Jill Nolan (Johnson City, NY/Maine-Endwell) and Rachel Parker (Chaumont, NY/Thousand Islands) combined for 21 assists and 15 digs vs. Gallaudet.
Golden had 24 digs, 15 kills, 2 aces and 2 blocks, Nolan added 24 assists, 13 digs and 2 aces and Curtis chipped in with 12 digs, 8 kills and 3 aces in the win over the Nittany Lions.
It was Golden's 18th double-double of the season.
Freshman Morgan Eberley (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) added 5 kills, 5 digs and 1.5 blocks while Parker had 13 assists and eight digs vs. Abington.
With the win over Abington, Keuka equaled the record for the second-most wins in a season by a Storm squad. Only the 2004 team, which went 21-8, won more matches in a season.
The Green and Gold conclude NEAC play with a 10 a.m. match against Penn State-Harrisburg at 10 a.m. Sunday morning.
