Box Score The Keuka College women's soccer team fell to Elmira College 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in the season-opener for both schools. Elmira scored two goals in each the first and second halves and enjoyed a 30-5 edge in shots. Elmira (1-0) struck first, scoring just 23 seconds in, and extended its lead to 2-0 in the 15th minute.
The Storm settled down and held Elmira scoreless for the next 44 minutes, until the Soaring Eagles finally broke through for their third goal in the 59th minute. Elmira closed out the scoring in the 86th minute.
Freshman Ashley Swarts (Arkport, NY/Arkport)made 12 saves for the Storm (0-1).
Keuka continues its four-game road trip to kickoff the 2011 season when it travels to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) rival Penn State-Berks for a 3 p.m. clash on Saturday afternoon.
