Box Score The Keuka College women's soccer team surrendered three goals in the first 14 minutes and fell to SUNY Geneseo 9-0 in a tough non-conference matchup played on a beautiful and chilly Wednesday night at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
SUNY Geneseo (8-3-1) got on the board just five minutes, 33 seconds into the contest when Anne Beinetti headed a volley into the upper right corner of the goal for her 10th goal of the season. The Blue Knights made it 2-0 on a rebound goal in the eighth minute and six minutes later it was 3-0 in favor of Geneseo.
The Storm (3-5-1) clamped down and held Geneseo scoreless for the next 10 minutes before the Blue Knights extended their lead to 4-0 on a header in the 25th minute. Keuka again held the Blue Knights scoreless over the next 10 minutes before Geneseo tacked on two more goals over a span of 1:15 to take a 6-0 lead into halftime.
Both teams played a scoreless first 12 minutes before Beinetti connected on her second goal of the game and 11th of the year with 33:04 remaining in the game. Geneseo would score twice more in a span of 13:15 to finish the scoring at 9-0. Geneseo outshot Keuka 24-1, including 15-1 in the first half.
Senior Morgan Engelbert (Elmira, NY/Thomas Edison) made nine saves for the Storm, which returns to action at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon when Keuka travels to SUNY Cobleskill for a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) clash.
