KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Soccer team scored seven goals as the Wolves defeated SUNY ESF 7-0 at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Saturday.
Six different players scored for Keuka College (2-0), led by
Lydia Lane with two goals.
Anna Leone posted a goal and two assists. Samantha Bates and
Jessica Miller each had a goal and an assist in the win.
Bailey Cook and
Sophia Watkins rounded out the goal scorers for Keuka.
Keuka College 7 vs. SUNY ESF 0
After a battle for possession to start the game, the Wolves took the lead in the 14th minute. Samantha Bates played a ball through the Mighty Oak back line to a cutting
Bailey Cook. The first-year attack ran onto in and cut around the goalie to make it 1-0. Keuka controlled the play for the duration of the half. The Wolves added to their lead when a pass across the box from
Anna Leone found
Jessica Miller at the back post for the 2-0 lead. Miller then setup a goal by
Sophia Watkins minutes later as she charged down the right wing. The graduate student centered the ball to Watkins at the edge of the box. Her shot went inside the left post as Keuka College led 3-0 at the half.
Keuka College continued to add to their lead in the second half.
Lydia Lane got a pair of goals in the opening 12 minutes of the half to grow the lead. After assisting on Lane's second goal, Leone got a goal of her own for her fourth point of the day. Leone connected on a shot from distance to make it 6-0. The Wolves put a cap on the game in the 65th minute as
Sam Bates took an effort from distance as well. The goalie for SUNY ESF leaped and got a hand on it but it was not enough as the ball continued into the back of the net. The Wolves saw the game out as Keuka College earned the 7-0 victory.

- Saturday was the first ever meeting in women's soccer between Keuka College and SUNY ESF
- It was the most goals scored in a game by Keuka College since the Wolves defeated Wells College 9-0 in 2019
- Jessica Miller recorded her first collegiate goal and assist for the Wolves
- Sophia Watkins also got her first collegiate goal
- Anna Leone now has six total points with a goal and four assists in the first week of the season, setting a new career high for the junior
- The tandem of Payton Malec and Lily Green combined for the shutout on Saturday
Up Next for Keuka College: Today's game kicked off five straight home games for the Green and Gold. Keuka will look to keep the momentum rolling on Tuesday as they host Alfred State College under the lights at 7 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the Wolves and the Pioneers since the 2014 season.
