Utica started with strong possession at Keuka on Wednesday, but the Wolves did a good job at limiting opportunities.
Jakob Snyder was called into action in the 26th minute as the first-year keeper made back-to-back saves to keep the game scoreless. Keuka College took the momentum and got a quality chance themselves a minute later.
Carson Montoney let a shot rip but was saved by the Pioneer goalie. Minutes later, Keuka continued to attack. The Wolves had multiple corners in the 30th minute. The last of which fell to an attacker's foot at the back post, but the ball bounced away and was cleared. The game remained scoreless at the half.
Early in the second half, a yellow card on Utica gave the Wolves a free kick from midfield. They sent it into the box, and the ball was bouncing loose, but Keuka was unable to get on the other end of it. Later in the 56th minute, the Wolves got a corner kick. After a failed clear, Keuka sent the ball back into the box and found the head of
Jakub Szpakowski, but it was saved. The play flipped to the other end. Snyder made the first save against Utica in the 60th, but the second shot snuck inside the near post to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead. Utica remained in possession and limited Keuka's chances on the counterattack to tie the game. The Pioneers held the Wolves without a shot in the final 30 minutes to secure the conference victory.
