Wolves Come Up Short Against Future Conference Opponent

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — Keuka College erased a two-goal deficit late in the opening half, but the comeback came up just short as the Wolves fell 2-1 to future AMCC opponent the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman Jack Currin scored his first collegiate goal for the Green and Gold, finishing a pass from freshman Avery Pawlisch.

Keuka College (1-5-2, 0-2 Empire 8) created the first scoring opportunity of the afternoon as Timothy Cowin fired a shot in the 10th minute. Jakob Snyder came up with a save in the 20th minute to keep the match scoreless, but Pitt.-Bradford broke through in the 28th minute before adding a second goal five minutes later to build a 2-0 advantage.

Pawlisch had a shot sail over the crossbar in the 34th minute as Keuka College pushed forward, and the breakthrough finally came in the 43rd minute. Pawlisch found Currin in the attacking third, and the freshman buried the chance for his first collegiate goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 heading into half.

Keuka College continued to apply pressure after the break. Patrick Smith sent an early chance wide before Pawlisch forced a save in the 62nd minute. Patrick Mucha tested the Panthers' goalkeeper again in the 71st minute, but the shot was stopped to keep the Wolves one goal behind.

The Green and Gold continued their search for the equalizer over the closing minutes. Keuka College earned two corner kicks down the stretch, while Nolan Dudley added a late shot. Snyder made another save in the final minutes to keep the Wolves within striking distance, but Keuka College was unable to find the tying goal before the final whistle.

KC Notes:
  • The Wolves are now 10-2-1 all-time against Pitt.-Bradford
  • Pawlisch now lead the team in assists with two on the season
  • Keuka College outshot Pitt.-Bradford 9-7, but the Panthers held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Up Next for Keuka College: Keuka College will host SUNY Brockport on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m. as the Wolves celebrate Green and Gold Weekend.
