KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Soccer team looked poised for their first victory of the season, but Alfred State scored with 30 seconds remaining to draw the match 1-1 at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Thursday.
Keuka College (0-2-1) took the lead in the 58th minute as
Avery Pawlisch scored off a direct free kick.
Jakob Snyder made three saves for the Wolves.

Keuka College had the possession advantage, but it would be Alfred State who had the best goal-scoring opportunities in the opening half. The Pioneers put one off the post in the 19th minute. Their best chance came in the 29th minute as a 50/50 ball drew Snyder out of his goal. The attacker got the ball, but the Keuka defense did a good job limiting his opportunities against the open goal. After some cutting, Alfred State let the shot go from the top of the box towards the goal, but first-year defender
Cody Bronner was there to take the ball off his chest and keep the game scoreless.
Play would even out in the second half, but it would be Keuka College who took advantage of their first premium chance in the 58th minute. A foul gave the Wolves a free kick from 23 yards out just to the left of center. First-year defender
Avery Pawlisch stepped up for the kick. His right-footed effort went over the wall and curled inside the left post for his first goal, giving Keuka a 1-0 lead. Alfred State increased the pressure as they looked to level the game. Keuka's defense held and kept the Pioneers from many quality chances. Snyder made a nice stop on a point-blank shot minutes after the Keuka goal. The Wolves had a chance open up on a counterattack with a nice flick by
Tyler Trowbridge found a cutting
Alex Adou in the box. The shot went to the left post but slid just wide. The game would go to the final minute with the Wolves ahead, but the Pioneers found the back of the net with 30 seconds remaining to push the game to a draw.

- The Wolves are now 3-1-1 all-time against Alfred State. Prior to Thursday, all the previous meetings came in the 2013 and 2014 seasons
- It was the first career goal for Pawlisch on his first career shot
- Alfred State had a 5-2 advantage in corners which led to a 12-4 edge in total shots
Up Next for Keuka College: Despite the late draw, the Wolves will look to carry the momentum of the result into this weekend as the Green and Gold open Empire 8 play. Keuka College will be on the road as the Wolves will play at Russell Sage College on Saturday.
