Wolves Score Season-High 21 Runs in Win over Alfred University

ALFRED, N.Y. — The Keuka College Baseball team ended the 2026 regular season on a high-note as the Wolves topped Alfred University 21-4 in an Empire 8 game on Sunday.

Jackson Loper had a career game for Keuka College (14-19, 10-12 Empire 8), finishing a home run short of a cycle, scored four runs, and drove in three. Grady Kessler was responsible for six runs in the game with a pair of runs scored and a career-high four runs driven in. Wyatt Ernst got the win on the mound going five innings for the Wolves, striking out four.

The Wolves took a patient approach at the plate on Sunday as the first seven batters walked. A hit by pitch was added in as Keuka led 5-0. Grady Kessler delivered the only hit of a seven-run first for the Wolves with two-run single with two outs.

Keuka used the bats in the second inning with six runs on six hits. Owen Garvey delivered an RBI double for the Wolves with two outs. Alex Evans (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) added an RBI single. Grady Kessler then had his second two-run hit in as many innings as he doubled to score Garvey and Evans. Derek Novicki added an RBI single as the Wolves took a 13-0 lead.

The Wolves played with the lead the rest of the game and kept distance from the Saxons. After Alfred got a solo home run in the second, Keuka got three runs back in the third. The big hit came from Mike Dutch with a two-run triple.

The Green and Gold would see the game out. The Wolves defeated the Saxons 21-4 in seven innings.

  • Derek Novicki's RBI single was his 42nd hit of the year, setting a new career high for the senior. It also moved him into sole possession of tenth on the career hits list at Keuka College
  • Matt Govendo and Avery Pankow each recorded their first collegiate hit on Sunday
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will have little rest for the postseason. Keuka College will be back on the field tomorrow as they play at SUNY Poly in the first round of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament. The Wildcats won the season series over the Wolves 2-1. It will be an elimination game in the tournament. The winner would advance to face Utica University on Thursday.
