Wolves Rally Falls Short Against UW-Eau Claire

DAVENPORT, Fla. — The Keuka College Baseball team fell 14-9 to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Tuesday at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Florida.
 
Hunter Corkran got the start on the mound for Keuka College (2-5) and went four innings. The Green and Gold recorded 10 hits in the game, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Evan Cuba and an RBI from Logan MeisnerDerek Novicki recorded three runs while Zach Elinich recorded two.

The Blugolds struck first with three runs in the opening inning and added four more in the second to take an early 7-0 lead. Keuka College responded in the bottom of the first as Zach Elinich came around to score, followed by an RBI walk from Logan Meisner. The Wolves continued to apply pressure and plated three runs in the inning to cut into the deficit.

After a scoreless stretch from the Green and Gold, Wisconsin-Eau Claire added two runs in the fifth to extend the lead. Keuka answered in the bottom half as Mike Dutch and Zach Elinich both scored on a two-RBI double by Evan Cuba to bring the Wolves back within striking distance.

The Blugolds tacked on a run in the sixth before breaking the game open with a five-run eighth inning. The Wolves continued to battle, scoring a run in the sixth and adding two more in the ninth, but could not complete the comeback.

Keuka College finished with nine runs on 10 hits, scoring in the first, fifth, sixth, and ninth innings, but Wisconsin-Eau Claire pulled away late to secure the 14-9 victory.
