UTICA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team lost at Utica University 77-70 on Friday night.
Lamar Lovelace led Keuka College (6-10, 3-4 Empire 8) with 21 points and eight rebounds.
Makya Morrison also had eight rebounds for the Green and Gold to go with his 11 points.
Kaleb Nutifafa was also in double figures with 10 points for the Wolves.
Utica University 77 vs. Keuka College 70
The Wolves held the Pioneers off the board for the first 3:30 on Friday as Keuka took a 6-0 lead on the road. Utica got on the board, and the lead was traded back and forth throughout the first half. Keuka College put together seven straight late in the half, started by a basket by
JT Giannakopoulos.
Chase Welch hit a three, and
Makya Morrison followed with a layup to give Keuka a 32-31 lead. A free throw by Utica stopped the run, but Morrison kept scoring with four more for the Wolves. Keuka led 36-34 at the half.
Utica University opened the second quarter on an 11-1 run as the Pioneers quickly regained the lead. The Wolves answered with seven straight to cut the margin to one at 45-44. Keuka College would shrink the margin multiple times, but not regain the lead until a layup by
Makya Morrison capped a 7-0 run for Keuka, giving the Wolves a 57-55 lead. The Wolves held a 65-64 lead with 4:34 left to play. Utica took the lead back on the following possession. The Pioneers outscored the Wolves 13-5 over the final four minutes to defeat the Green and Gold on Friday.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will face SUNY Poly on Saturday in Utica to conclude their conference weekend. Keuka College defeated SUNY Poly 65-63 in Keuka Park last season. The Wolves will be in search of just their second victory at SUNY Poly in 16 visits.
