Lamar Lovelace Named National Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS — After a standout weekend by Keuka College Men's Basketball's Lamar Lovelace, the senior was named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) DIII National Player of the Week.

Lovelace set the Keuka College record with 41 points in the 105-100 victory by the Wolves over Russell Sage. He then followed it with a team-high 21 points while recording his first career double-double in a win over Hartwick College on Saturday.

It is the first time in program history that a Keuka College Basketball player has earned the national honor. Lovelace is the first Empire 8 athlete to be honored since the 2016-17 season.

Each Tuesday, the USBWA selects men's and women's Division III National Players of the Week. This is the 11th season that the USBWA will recognize national players of the week from Division III.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With some 900 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball. It has selected an All-America team since the 1956-57 season.
