KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College basketball programs were well-represented on the Academic All-District lists by College Sports Communications as three members of the Women's Basketball team and two from the Men's Basketball team earned the honor.
For the third year in a row,
Sydney Brown and
Katie Deatherage were honored by the national organization.
Janea Hamilton-Brown earned her first selection.
On the men's side,
Will Tehan earned his third selection while
Ty LaBarge earned his first selection.
Sydney Brown finished her career averaging 7.3 points per game as a graduate student while completing her Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. She will leave Keuka College as the career leader in threes, knocking down 191 triples over her tenure.
Katie Deatherage posted a personal high in points and rebounds in her final season for the Wolves. Her effects are felt off the court as well. Deatherage was selected as the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year for Keuka's Women's Basketball team. She was also a two-time all-conference performer in lacrosse and has been named to the Empire 8 President's List every semester.
Janea Hamilton-Brown played in every game for the Wolves this season while setting new highs in points, rebounds, and steals. A writing and communication arts major, Hamilton-Brown has earned Empire 8 President's List in every semester at Keuka.
Becoming the first person from the Men's Basketball team to be named Academic All-District three times,
Will Tehan was a leader for the Wolves in his senior year. Tehan scored a personal-best 213 points, the second-most on the team. He also set career-highs in rebounds and steals. He has been a consistent member of the Empire 8 President's List and was named the Nancy Wightman Leadership Award winner at Keuka's Senior Athlete Dinner in May.
Ty LaBarge earned his first Academic All-District selection. The sophomore made his first career start last season while playing in 23 games for the Wolves. He earned Empire 8 President's List recognition in the fall semester with a perfect 4.00 grade point average.
To be eligible for Academic-All District, the student-athlete must have at least a sophomore standing and carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 while playing in at least 90% of the team's games.
