UTICA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Baseball team lost at SUNY Poly 11-7 on Friday in an Empire 8 Conference game.
Alex Evans,
Derek Novicki, and
John Valinoti each had three hits for Keuka College (11-19, 5-13 Empire 8).
Carlos Fantauzzi and
Ethan Drinon each added two hits and two RBIs for the Wolves.
SUNY Poly 11 vs. Keuka College 7
The Wildcats took the early lead over the Wolves on Friday with four runs in the first inning and three more in the second. SUNY Poly added a run in the fourth before the Wolves broke through in the fifth.
Alex Evans led off with a double and scored on a double
Carlos Fantauzzi as the Wolves got on the board. Fantauzzi's double was followed by singles by
Derek Novicki and
John Valinoti. Novicki's hit scored Fantauzzi.
Ethan Drinon then had his first career triple to score Novicki and Valinoti and cut Poly's lead in half to 8-4.
The Wolves got one more back in the sixth on a
Kyle Wood sacrifice fly, but the Wildcats responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Keuka College continued to fight as
Carlos Fantauzzi hit an RBI single in the eighth.
Kyle Wood followed with a steal of home to make it 11-7. However, that would close the scoring for both teams and SUNY Poly held on for the 11-7 victory.

- The Wolves have now dropped four straight to SUNY Poly and are 14-20 all-time against the Wildcats
- Alex Evans had three hits and scored three runs at the top of the order for the Wolves
- With the two runs batted in by Carlos Fantauzzi, the senior moved into a tie for tenth on the career list at Keuka College with 61 RBIs and a tie for ninth on the single season RBI list with 27
- Fantauzzi also stole a base on Friday, moving into a tie for second on the career list with 26 and sole possession of second on the single-season list with 14
- DJ Bruni pitched two perfect innings in relief for the Wolves to close the game
- The Wolves outhit the Wildcats 14-8 on Friday
