GENEVA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Baseball lost at Hobart College 11-10 on Thursday night in a non-conference game.
The lefties paced the offense for Keuka College (10-16, 4-10 Empire 8) as
Alex Evans and
Derek Novicki each had three hits for the Wolves.
Carlos Fantauzzi added a pair of hits and added two runs scored and two runs driven in.
Hobart College 11 vs. Keuka College 10
The Wolves took the lead over Hobart right off the bat in the first inning.
Alex Evans led off with a single and
Kyle Wood followed with a walk. After both moved up on a wild pitch,
Carlos Fantauzzi scored them on a single for the 2-0 lead. Fantauzzi stole second and scored on a double by
John Valinoti. The Wolves continued to hit as
Tyler Lewandowski switched places with Valinoti with a double of his own. The Wolves added a run on an error and the lineup would turn over.
Alex Evans had his second hit of the inning to score
Ian Ruhmel and give the Wolves a 6-0 lead.
Hobart got one back in the bottom of the frame, but Keuka answered that run in the second.
Derek Novicki doubled to left centerfield for Keuka and scored on a single up the middle by
Tyler Lewandowski to make it 7-1.
The Statesmen threatened in the third, loading the bases with one out. Starting pitcher
Keegan Ferris got a groundball to
Alex Evans at shortstop. He flipped the ball to Lewandowski at second who threw it across to Novicki at first for the inning-ending double play.
Both teams scored a run in the fourth with
John Valinoti hitting a sacrifice fly for the Wolves. Hobart then pulled three back in the sixth and one in the eighth to make it 8-6.
The Wolves added two insurance runs in the top of the ninth.
Carlos Fantauzzi led off with a walk and moved to third on a single by
Derek Novicki. A balk scored Fantauzzi. Novicki later scored on a passed ball as Keuka College took a 10-6 lead into the bottom of the ninth.
However, Hobart would score five in the bottom of the ninth for the walk-off 11-10 victory over Keuka College.

- Keuka College falls to 0-5 all-time against Hobart. The last two meetings have come down to Hobart's final at bat
- The ten runs scored by the Wolves are the most for Keuka in the five-game series
- John Valinoti and Tyler Lewandowski also had multi-hit games for the Wolves. With his two hits, Lewandowski now has 28 on the season, setting a new personal best for the senior
- Jesse Capitano threw two innings of relief for the Wolves. Five of the six outs he recorded via the strikeout. Capitano surpassed 100 career innings pitched for Keuka in the appearance
