KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team lost on Friday night 3-0 to Hartwick College in an Empire 8 match at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Nina Scott led Keuka College (2-20, 1-7 Empire 8) with a match-high 14 kills.
Gabby Rodriguez led the defensive efforts with 15 digs for the Wolves.
Hartwick College 3 at Keuka College 0 – 25-21, 25-17, 25-21
The Wolves got out to a fast start as
Nina Scott had a kill on the first point and
Gabby Rodriguez followed with an ace. Keuka scored the first four points in the match. Hartwick College worked their way back into the set. Six straight points for the Hawks tied the set at 9-9 and pushed a Hartwick lead to 12-9.
Addisyn Chorney dunked a ball to stop the run at 12-10, but Hartwick remained in control of the set. Keuka would keep the set close but were unable to regain the lead. Back-to-back kills by Chorney and Scott cut the margin down to one at 21-22, but Hartwick converted the last three points to win the set 25-21.
The Hawks carried the momentum into the second set. A kill by
Nina Scott tied the frame at 1-1, but that would be the only level score of the second. Hartwick built their lead throughout the set. Keuka College drew it back in closer on the serve of
Meaghan Knott. Alessandra Castañeda hit a kill to give the Wolves the serve and Knott immediately followed with an ace. Keuka scored five straight, capped by another Knott ace, to force Hartwick into a timeout. Following the timeout, the Hawks regained control and won the set 25-17.
The third set was close between the two teams. A kill by
Nina Scott capped a 3-0 run for Keuka and a 7-6 lead. The teams would trade the lead, but Hartwick would begin to edge ahead midway through the frame. Keuka would cut the margin down to one multiple times but were unable to overtake the Hawks. A kill by Scott made it 20-21, but Hartwick regained the serve with a kill and followed with a pair of aces to establish control. The Hawks closed it out with a block to take the third 25-21 and sweep the match.

- Keuka and Hartwick entered the match tied at 10-10 all-time. The Hawks now have a one-game lead in the series
- Added on the defensive end, Rosslan Force had four blocks for the Wolves
- Gabby Rodriguez led Keuka College with three aces in the match. She surpassed 50 aces for her career
- Alessandra Castañeda was second on the team with six kills
- Lilah Cousins set a new personal high for kills in a season
- Offensive statistics between the two teams were close as Hartwick had 33 kills against 16 errors on 102 attempts, while Keuka had 30 kills against 17 errors on 109 attempts. The difference in the match was found at the service line as Hartwick hit 15 aces against five for the Wolves
