Wolves Secure Second Consecutive E8 Win

ELMIRA, N.Y. — The Keuka College field hockey team defeated Elmira College 4-3 in an Empire 8 matchup on Wednesday.
Senior Tori Nelson scored two goals and added an assist for the Wolves, moving into first all-time in career points and tied for fourth all-time in career goals at Keuka. Her hometown teammate, Alexis Dodge, recorded an assist as well, giving her sole possession of fifth place on the program's career assists list with nine.

The Wolves opened strong, taking four shots to Elmira's one in the opening minutes of the first quarter. Tori Nelson put Keuka on the board in the eighth minute off an assist from Alexis Dodge (Vernon Center, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill). The Soaring Eagles responded quickly with a goal of their own to end the quarter tied 1-1.
Keuka started the second quarter much like the first, firing four early shots but unable to break through. Elmira then applied pressure with three corners and two shots in a two-minute span, but the Wolves struck back as Isabella Dunn scored off a feed from Alexis McGregor. Elmira answered once again, sending the teams into halftime tied 2-2.
Elmira pressed early in the third with multiple chances, but Keuka flipped the momentum with three straight corners and shots in quick succession. Nelson capped the sequence with her second goal of the night. The Soaring Eagles drew level once more, but less than a minute later McGregor finished a pass from Nelson to give the Wolves a 4-3 advantage heading into the fourth.
The Soaring Eagles pushed for an equalizer in the final quarter with seven shots and three corners, but Keuka's defense held firm. Goalkeeper Nijeylie Torres came up with a game-saving stop off her right foot in the closing minutes to seal the Wolves' second win of the season.
