KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team was swept by St. John Fisher University in an Empire 8 match at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center on Friday night.
Nina Scott led Keuka College (1-18, 0-5 Empire 8) with 10 kills in the match. First-year Alessandra Castañeda reached double-digits on the defensive end with 10 digs for the Wolves.
St. John Fisher University 3 at Keuka College 0 – 25-18, 25-17, 25-14
The first set started tight between the two teams. A kill by Castañeda cut the Fisher lead to 7-6. The Cardinals widened the margin, but Keuka went on a run, scoring five of six points to drop the difference to two at 16-14. However, St. John Fisher rebounded to control the first and take the opening set 25-18.
The Wolves started on the front foot in set two. An ace by
Nina Scott gave the Green and Gold a 6-4 lead. However, the Cardinals answered with five straight to take the lead. The Wolves had an answer of their own. Castañeda started it off with a kill and followed with an ace. Nina Scot then hit kills on three of the next four points as Keuka rallied to tie the set at 13-13. Another run by St. John Fisher sealed the set though as Fisher scored 10 of the next 12 to take a 23-15 lead over the Wolves. They closed the set out 25-17 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
A block by
Phoebe Swartz tied the third set at 4-4, but St. John Fisher responded with six straight to take control of the third. The Cardinals would see the set out, winning the final set 25-14 to sweep the match.

- As a team, Keuka College had more digs, 46, than St. John Fisher
- Phoebe Swartz led the Wolves with 10 assists in the match. The first-year setter surpassed 200 assists on the season
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves remain in Empire 8 play on Saturday as they travel to Nazareth University to face the Golden Flyers. It will be a good match as the teams traded wins over the past two years. The Wolves and Golden Flyers are set for a 1 p.m. start.
