Seniors Lift Keuka College over SUNY Poly

UTICA, N.Y. — Three seniors scored their first career goals for Keuka College as the Women's Soccer team defeated SUNY Poly 3-1 in an Empire 8 game on Saturday.

Delaney Szostak, Peyton Steates, and Karlee Reed each scored for Keuka College (1-7-3, 1-4-1 Empire 8). Fellow senior Elianna Wilder made four saves in goal to get the win.

SUNY Poly had some early chances with a pair of corner kicks, but the Keuka defense held. The Wolves flipped the field and sustained pressure against the Wildcats. Poly was able to jump on the counter. The Keuka College defense was called upon following a corner kick, clearing a ball off the line. SUNY Poly also hit the post on a shot as the game was scoreless at the half.

Keuka College regrouped in the second half and took the lead in the 53rd minute as Delaney Szostak found the back of the goal. Minutes later, it was Peyton Steates turn to record her first collegiate goal. Karlee Reed wrapped up the scoring in the 68th minute as the Wolves took a 3-0 lead. A late foul on the Wolves resulted in a penalty kick for the Wildcats. The hosts converted with 2:38 left in the game. Keuka held from there to get their first win of the season.

  • The Wolves extend their unbeaten streak against SUNY Poly to five games. Keuka College is 12-4-3 all-time against the Wildcats
  • Keuka College doubled its scoring output on Saturday, entering the game with three goals on the season
  • Rilee Nunan was unable to get on the scoresheet but led Keuka College with six shots in the game
  • Saturday was the first win of the season for Keuka College and the first win for Head Coach Quintin Rogers
