ALFRED, N.Y. — Senior Devon Gerhardt scored three goals for Keuka College, but the Wolves lost at Alfred University 26-5 in men's lacrosse on Saturday.

Dylan DeLucia and Harrison Root added goals for Keuka College (5-6, 0-4 Empire 8) in the loss.

The Wolves struck first on Saturday as Gerhardt found the back of the goal, but the Saxons answered in quick fashion. Alfred won the faceoff and scored four seconds after the Wolves. They then followed that with a goal 16 seconds later to take a 2-1 lead. Alfred extended their lead to 4-1. Keuka got one back in the final minute as Nicholas Pipher assisted on DeLucia's tally as the first closed with Alfred ahead 4-2.

The second quarter belonged to the Saxons. The hosts outscored Keuka 9-1 in the fame to take control of the game. Harrison Root scored the lone goal for the Wolves on the man-up. Keuka trailed 13-3 at the half.

Pipher earned his second assist of the day, setting up Gerhardt for the opening goal of the second half, but Alfred again showcased a quick offense scoring four goals in a 74-second span. Gerhardt completed the hat trick, again assisted by Pipher, but Alfred carried a 21-5 lead into the final quarter.

The Saxons closed the game out in the fourth, keeping Keuka off the scoreboard, as Alfred defeated the Wolves 26-5.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will close the 2024 regular season season with a pair of games at home this week. Keuka College will host Nazareth University on Wednesday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex. The Wolves then face Hartwick College on Senior Day on Saturday.
